What is soft gel? Soft gel is a flexible gel product applied directly to your natural nails, creating a protective layer that adds strength and durability while maintaining a natural-looking finish. Often known as BIAB, designed to support your natural nails without the added length or heaviness of extensions. Who is it best suited for? This service is ideal for clients who: * Prefer short to medium-length natural nails. * Want a neat, natural-looking manicure with added strength. * Find their natural nails are prone to bending, splitting or breaking. * Want to maintain their natural length while working towards healthier-looking, longer nails. * Prefer a more flexible, lightweight alternative to traditional nail enhancements. Can soft gel help my natural nails grow & become healthier? Soft gel does not make your nails grow faster or become healthier. Your natural nails grow naturally from the nail matrix, underneath your cuticle. However, by adding a protective layer over your nails, soft gel can help reduce everyday wear, bending and breakage. This can allow you to retain more of your natural length over time, helping your nails grow out without breaking as easily. Is it suitable for everyone? Soft gel is best suited to short to medium natural nails. If you want extra length or need a stronger, more rigid enhancement, acrylic or hard gel may be more suitable. How long will it last? With proper application and aftercare, your manicure can typically last around 3 weeks, depending on your natural nails, lifestyle and how well you care for them. To maintain the strength, balance and appearance of your manicure, l recommend booking a rebalance every 3 weeks, 4 weeks at a push rather than leaving the product on for too long. Leaving the product on for longer periods can result in stress breaks causing your nails to split, crack or snap. Want extra length and more durability? If you love longer nails, want extensions or need a stronger structure to support your preferred length, I would recommend choosing a different enhancement system, such as acrylic or hard gel, following a consultation. This will help me select the most suitable product for your nail type, lifestyle and desired result. A pro to soft gel is that, (BIAB), it can be soaked off when using a soak-off formula, unlike hard gel, which is a file-off product. However, a full soak-off isn’t necessary at every appointment. During a rebalance I remove around 80% of the existing product, allowing me to see through to your natural nail and assess its condition before carefully rebalancing the structure.
