Most beauty businesses lose clients not because those clients had a bad experience — but because life got busy, a few weeks became a few months, and nobody reached out. The client didn't leave. They just drifted. And without a system to catch them, that drift is invisible until your diary is half-empty.
Marketing automations are Glamly's answer to that problem. They're a set of pre-built messages that fire at the right moment in a client's journey — after their first visit, when they're due a rebook, on their birthday, when they've gone quiet for too long. You configure them once, and Glamly handles the rest.
There are eleven automations available, each targeting a different moment in the client lifecycle. You don't need to use all of them — start with one or two that feel most relevant, see the difference in your rebooking rate, and expand from there.
Email or SMS — your choice per automation
Every automation in Glamly supports both email and SMS. Each one has its own channel toggles, so you can run some automations via email only, others via SMS only, or both at once. There's no global on/off — you decide per automation what makes sense for your clients and your business.
| Channel | Cost | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Free to send — no per-message cost | Longer messages, discount codes, branded content your clients can screenshot and save (birthday offers, anniversary messages) | |
| SMS | 100 credits free per month with a marketing subscription. Top-up bundles available for higher volumes. | Short, punchy nudges that get read instantly — ideal for rebooking reminders, win-back messages, and quiet period fillers |
If you're unsure where to start, email is a safe default — it costs nothing and tends to work well for anything that benefits from a bit of visual polish. SMS earns its credits when speed and open rate matter: a win-back message or a quiet period filler sent by SMS gets seen within minutes.
The 11 automations
Here's what each automation does, when it fires, and which channels it supports.
Rebooking Reminder
Fires X weeks after a completed appointment when the client hasn't rebooked. You set the interval (2–12 weeks). The highest-ROI automation Glamly offers — most clients just need a nudge.
Google Review Request
Sends a 5-star rating prompt after each appointment. Clients who tap 4 or 5 stars are redirected straight to your Google review page. A simple way to build your public reputation automatically.
Birthday Message
Sent a few days before the client's birthday with a personal message and an optional discount code. Email is recommended — the code displays in a branded format clients can screenshot and save.
First Visit Follow-up
Sent the day after a client's very first appointment. Welcomes them, thanks them for their visit, and gently encourages them to book again. Turns a one-time visitor into a regular.
Booking Anniversary
Sent on the one-year anniversary of a client's first ever appointment with you. A personal milestone message — feels thoughtful without any extra effort on your part. Optional discount included.
Win-back Message
Sent to clients who haven't visited in 90 days or more (you set the threshold). A warm "we miss you" message with a reason to come back. One of the most effective tools for reactivating lapsed clients.
Loyalty Milestone
Fires when a client reaches a visit milestone you define — for example, their 5th or 10th appointment. A reward and recognition message that makes loyal clients feel valued.
Service Cycle Nudge
Reminds clients to rebook a specific service when they're probably due another treatment. Configurable per service so a gel client gets nudged at 3 weeks, an eyebrow client at 6. Reduces the gap between visits.
Quiet Period Filler
Detects when you have fewer than X bookings in the next Y days and automatically sends a message to recent or lapsed clients. Fills gaps before they become a problem — without you having to notice them first.
Referral Nudge
Sent after a client has completed a set number of visits, encouraging them to refer a friend. Includes a personal referral link. Happy regulars are your best source of new clients — this makes it effortless for them to share.
Cancellation & No-show Recovery
Sent to clients who cancelled or didn't show up, with a friendly prompt to rebook. Turns a lost appointment into a recovered one without any awkward manual follow-up from you.
Where to start
If you want to enable everything at once, go ahead — but most practitioners find it easier to start with two or three, watch the results, then expand. Here's a sensible first set:
- Rebooking Reminder — the single highest-impact automation. Set it to fire 4–6 weeks after a visit depending on what you offer.
- First Visit Follow-up — turns first-timers into regulars. Takes 30 seconds to configure and fires automatically for every new client going forward.
- Win-back Message — passively recovers lapsed clients you'd otherwise never hear from again.
Once those are running you can layer in birthday messages, quiet period fillers, and the rest — each one adding another layer of automatic engagement without any ongoing time from you.
How to enable automations
Automations are managed from your Glamly dashboard under Settings → Marketing Automations. Each automation has its own card with a toggle to switch it on, channel options (email and/or SMS), and any configurable settings specific to that automation — such as the rebooking interval, the no-visit threshold for win-back messages, or whether to include a discount code in birthday messages.
- Go to your dashboard and open Settings → Marketing Automations.
- Find the automation you want to enable and flip the toggle to on.
- Choose your channels — Email, SMS, or both. Each channel has its own toggle so you can mix and match.
- Adjust any configurable settings — interval weeks, thresholds, discount codes — then save.
- The automation is now live. Every client who hits that trigger going forward will receive the message automatically.
A few things worth noting
- Automations only fire for clients in your Glamly client list. Anyone booked through your public booking page is added automatically.
- Each automation is deduplicated — a client won't receive the same rebooking reminder twice for the same appointment period.
- SMS credits refresh monthly. Your 100 free credits reset at the start of each billing cycle; top-up bundles carry over if unused.
- You can customise the message text for most automations to match your brand voice. The default templates are a solid starting point.
- Automations respect your opt-out settings. Any client who has opted out of marketing messages won't receive automated messages.
Checking your results
Glamly tracks the performance of each automation on the Marketing Insights page in your dashboard. You'll see how many messages were sent, open rates for email, delivery rates for SMS, and — most importantly — how many clients rebooked within a set window after receiving each message.
That last metric is what matters: did the automation produce a booking? Over time, the insights page gives you a clear picture of which automations are earning their keep and where there's room to tweak the timing or message. Most practitioners find rebooking reminders and win-back messages consistently top the list.
The beauty of automations is that they get more valuable over time. The more clients you accumulate in Glamly, the larger the audience each automation reaches — and because they fire based on individual client behaviour rather than a broadcast date, the messages stay relevant no matter how many clients you have.
