WhatsApp is how Glamly keeps your clients in the loop around every appointment. Confirmations the moment they book, reminders in the lead-up, notifications if anything changes — it's the most reliable way to reach someone before they need to be somewhere, and open rates are closer to 90% than email's 25%.
Every Glamly plan includes a monthly WhatsApp message allowance. For most users, that's enough. But if you have a full appointment book, you can use through your allowance faster than you'd expect. That's where bolt-ons come in.
What counts as a WhatsApp message?
WhatsApp in Glamly is used for appointment messaging — the transactional messages that keep clients informed around their bookings:
- Booking confirmations (sent immediately when a client books)
- Appointment reminders (24-hour and same-day)
- Reschedule notifications
- Cancellation confirmations
If you have 20 appointments in a week, you're likely sending 3–4 messages per client (confirmation, two reminders, and any reschedule or cancellation messages). That's 60–80 messages from 20 bookings — and it adds up fast in a busy month.
The four bolt-on packages
Bolt-ons come in four sizes. Choose the one that fits your usual volume — you can always change it later.
All bolt-ons are billed monthly at the same time as your Glamly subscription. The extra messages are added to your account immediately and refresh at the start of each billing cycle.
How to add a bolt-on
Go to Settings → My Glamly Subscription and scroll to the WhatsApp Bolt-on section. You'll see all four packages with their prices. Select the one you want, confirm, and it activates the same day.
Purchasing through the app
Due to App Store guidelines, in-app purchases on iOS must go through Apple — which means bolt-on management isn't available directly inside the Glamly iOS app. Tap "Add bolt-on at glamly.uk" in the Subscription section and you'll be taken to the website where you can add or change your bolt-on normally. It only takes a minute, and your updated allowance will show in the app immediately.
How to add a bolt-on (step by step)
- Open Settings → My Glamly Subscription
- Scroll to the WhatsApp Bolt-on section
- Tap the package you want to add
- Review the price and confirm
- Your extra messages are live immediately
Removing or changing your bolt-on
You can remove a bolt-on at any time from the same Subscription screen. It cancels at the end of your current billing period, so you keep your remaining extra messages until then.
To switch to a different tier, remove your current bolt-on first, then add the new one. The change takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
Staying on top of your usage
Glamly shows your WhatsApp usage in real time on the Subscription page — how many messages you've used this month and how many remain. Two settings help you manage this automatically:
- Low message alert — sends you a notification when you're running low, so you can top up before your appointment messages are affected.
- Auto turn-off — pauses WhatsApp messages automatically if you reach your limit, preventing unexpected overages.
